Former Servicemen Share Their Experiences

Two former military servicemen from TCK and SP, Pavlo Pimahov and Yuriy Pihota, recently spoke about their work and the moral difficulties they face. The Guardian reported on their experiences.

Pimahov used to work as a used car salesman before the Russian aggression in Ukraine, while Pihota was in construction in Israel and returned to Ukraine after the war began. Both initially volunteered on the front lines during the early days of the conflict but were wounded. They were then sent to work in TCK.

Both men noted that individuals start to flee as soon as they approach them. Pimahov expressed his feelings, saying, «I don’t judge people who dodge military service, but I feel offended. We were standing in long lines to volunteer, and these guys are trying everything to avoid it. All the brave ones have already volunteered.»

After meeting with the veterans, journalists mentioned that «the fate of each conscript may change.» For example, Pimahov and Pihota gave a summons to 40-year-old Ruslan from the Sumy region who traveled to Kyiv. Ruslan was photographed and his information was entered into the system.

«I didn’t sign up earlier due to some health issues, leg pain. But I am willing to go if they call me,» Ruslan stated.
