Ukraine to Begin Negotiations with Ireland on Security Guarantees
Ukraine is planning to start negotiations with Ireland on security guarantees in the near future, as announced by the Deputy Head of the Office of the President Igor Zhovkva in an interview with the «Interfax-Ukraine» agency.
«Last Wednesday, a meeting was held with a delegation from the Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Deputy Secretary General Ms. Hailend. We discussed the possibility of starting negotiations on security guarantees with Ireland,» Zhovkva said.
According to Zhovkva, security guarantees cover not only military aspects but also include economic issues, sanctions, dealing with Russian assets, and establishing a tribunal to punish the aggressor for the crime of aggression.
Despite constitutional restrictions on military assistance, Japan actively supports Ukraine. For example, this year’s agreement with Japan provides overall assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $4.5 billion,» he explained.
