A Scandal Erupts in Kharkiv Over School Renovation
A scandal has erupted in Kharkiv over the renovation of a school. The Nemyshlianska district prosecutor’s office has filed a lawsuit in the Economic Court of the Kharkiv region against a dishonest contractor who grossly inflated the costs of the renovation and received an additional 200 thousand hryvnias from the budget.
In September 2021, the company entered into an agreement with the local authorities for the capital repair and improvement of a school in the Industrial district. However, it was discovered that the contractor provided knowingly false information about the volume of work performed, exaggerating the labor costs by nearly 2,000 hours.
Due to these falsifications, the budget incurred losses of around 200 thousand hryvnias, which were unjustifiably transferred to the company’s account. Now, the prosecutor’s office is demanding the reimbursement of these funds through the judicial authorities.
