Lithuanian Prime Minister Warns of Kremlin’s Attempts to Divide Poland and Lithuania
Ingrida Šimonytė, the Prime Minister of Lithuania, has raised concerns about the Kremlin’s efforts to divide Poland and Lithuania, both key supporters of Ukraine. Šimonytė highlighted the closure of the Lithuanian-Polish border by Polish farmers as a move reminiscent of Russia’s strategy to sow discord between allies.
She emphasized that negotiations are ongoing with Polish authorities, EU institutions, and the protesting farmers to address the situation. Polish farmers are planning new blockades, including at the former Polish-German border crossing in Švėtė and near the former Lithuanian-Polish border crossing «Kalvarija-Budzisko.» The inspections will focus on trucks, particularly those carrying agricultural goods.
