Oksana Tserkovna presents «State: snail» exhibition
Oksana Tserkovna presented her new exhibition project «State: snail» at the Alexander White Museum of Fine Arts in Chernomorsk (Parkova Street, 8). The exhibition, featuring dolls from the collection of Yelena and Serhiy Filipovych, unfolds not children’s toys before the viewers, but a deep and mature look at the complexities of human existence.
The project presents images that reflect the modern human experience — feelings of isolation and confinement, as well as stunning vulnerability. The snail shell here symbolizes life difficulties and thoughts that constantly affect our emotional well-being.
Oksana Tserkovna explains: «In ancient Egypt, the snail was a symbol of eternity and fertility, and its spiral — a labyrinth, complexity and mystery. In the Middle Ages, it was associated with sin and laziness. In the Renaissance, snails became a symbol of purity and innocence, and in Protestant traditions — modesty. The ability to hide in a shell and regenerate with the arrival of spring or after a drought made the snail a symbol of rebirth.»
This exhibition invites visitors to delve deeper into reflections on how our surroundings and inner world interact and shape our experiences.
