The Prince Charles Cinema Cancels World Premiere of «The Last Screenwriter» Film
The Prince Charles Cinema in London has decided to cancel the world premiere of the film «The Last Screenwriter», written by AI 4.0 algorithm, due to massive complaints from viewers who expressed deep outrage over the use of artificial intelligence instead of a human screenwriter.
According to the cinema, many feedbacks expressing concerns about such a cinematographic and psychological experiment have been received over the last 24 hours.
The film «The Last Screenwriter», created by directors Peter Luisi and Nicholas Popla, tells the story of a famous screenwriter who encounters cutting-edge technology of scriptwriting using artificial intelligence. The film’s script is entirely developed by AI and describes how the technology surpasses human abilities in empathy, knowledge of psychology, and deep understanding of human emotions.
After canceling the premiere, the directors announced a private screening of the film for actors and the film crew in London. Peter Luisi expressed hope that critics and viewers who criticized the project before watching it will change their minds after familiarizing themselves with the film’s content and its creative approach.
«I believe that the public is not well informed about the project. All they know is that it is ‘the first film completely written by artificial intelligence’, and they immediately see it as a threat, directing their anger towards us… If the screenwriters took the time to watch the film and understand the process of its creation, why we decided to make it, I am sure they would not condemn us or me, as I am also one of them… My desire to contribute to the cause as a whole inspires me to do this,» commented Luisi.
The use of artificial intelligence in the film industry remains a relevant issue. One of the key demands last year from Hollywood writers was protection from the integration of AI tools in the scriptwriting process, which led to an agreement that AI could be used to create script drafts.
