Owners of damaged property without documents will have to go to court to receive compensation

Compensation Issues in the «єVidnovlennya» Program

According to RBC-Ukraine, some owners of damaged or destroyed housing have to turn to court in order to receive compensation from the «єVidnovlennya» program. This happens when the property was not registered in the State Register of Property Rights and the supporting documents have been lost.

Elena Shulyak, head of the Verkhovna Rada’s committee on organization of state power, local self-government, regional development and urban planning, as well as the head of the «Servant of the People» party, notes that this scenario is particularly relevant in several typical cases where the only way to confirm property rights is through judicial proceedings. This includes cases where a person has lost the supporting document for housing acquired before 2013, or when the State Register of Property Rights does not have information about ownership rights.

Shulyak stated that the judicial process in such cases, although perceived as lengthy, usually lasts up to three months.
