Ohrizko encourages Hungary to leave NATO due to disagreement with Alliance rules

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Volodymyr Ogryzko, has suggested that Hungary should leave NATO if it is not satisfied with the conditions of membership.

This statement comes in response to the recent remarks made by the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, regarding Hungary’s desire for a special status within NATO due to its conflict with Ukraine.

«If a country wants to be in NATO but does not adhere to its rules, the simplest solution is to leave the Alliance and not complicate the situation for others. To be under NATO’s protection and at the same time not fulfill its obligations is too cunning,» wrote the former minister.

Earlier, Viktor Orban stated that Hungarian military and legal experts are working on revising Hungary’s NATO membership status in order to avoid participation in future Alliance operations and reduce support for Ukraine.
