New Assistance Package for Ukraine
According to information from two US officials, the new assistance package for Ukraine will include highly mobile artillery rocket systems HIMARS, as well as 155mm and 105mm artillery shells.
Decision made on May 20
The decision to provide Ukraine with this new package of assistance was made on May 20 after a meeting of 50 defense ministers from European countries and others who regularly gather to coordinate additional military aid to Ukraine.
Fourth Tranche of Military Aid
This will be the fourth tranche of military aid to Ukraine since the passage of a foreign assistance bill for Ukraine by Congress at the end of last month.
Aid for Deterrence
This aid is necessary for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to deter Russian advances in the Kharkiv region.
