Musical celebrations of March: from Shevchenko to Ivasyuk at the capital’s philharmonic

Exciting Musical Events at Kyiv Philharmonic Hall

Exciting musical events await the residents and guests of Kyiv this month at the Philharmonic Hall. Evenings dedicated to prominent figures in Ukrainian and world music, vocal concerts, and events for Shevchenko Days will expand the cultural horizon of the audience.

Upcoming Events

The first three days of March are dedicated to Shevchenko Days, coinciding with the 210th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birth. From March 8 to 10, the Philharmonic will hold lectures and thematic concerts covering various aspects of the great poet’s work.

In March, various anniversaries and birthdays of composers and prominent figures in the music world will be celebrated. For example, evenings dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Volodymyr Ivasyuk and Valeriy Matyukhin, the 70th anniversary of Vasyl Kryachko, as well as the birthdays of Johann Sebastian Bach and Astor Piazzolla will take place.

The anniversary concert «Mission» will take place on March 3 in the Column Hall. The program will include selected violin works that convey the unique intonations and rhythms of Ukrainian ethnic tradition and the spirit of composers from the 18th to the 21st century. Concert master Kyrylo Stetsenko will perform Vladimir Ivasyuk’s works for violin and piano for the first time on the Philharmonic stage, with the notes gifted by the composer’s family.

«It’s time to recognize that Volodya was not only a genius of pop music — he truly had the wings of a prominent creator of high academic music,» noted Kyrylo Stetsenko.
