High-profile Case of Drug Trafficking Uncovered in Lviv Region
Law enforcement officers in the Lviv region have uncovered a high-profile case of drug trafficking into prison walls, organized by a prisoner along with trusted individuals both among the inmates and those at large.
Drug Labs Dismantled, Large Batch of Cannabis Seized
Lviv police have dismantled drug labs and seized a large batch of cannabis. The ready-for-sale «merchandise» was supplied to the Drogobych correctional colony by members of the drug group. This was reported by the National Police press service on Wednesday, March 13.
Operation Involved Trusted Individuals Inside and Outside Prison
It is reported that the leader of the criminal group, while behind bars, involved trusted individuals in the drug business both among the inmates and those at large. Individuals who were at liberty were responsible for forming orders and smuggling the «merchandise» onto the prison grounds. One of the participants was responsible for the operation of the drug labs.
Drug Labs Identified and Dismantled
Law enforcement officers identified and dismantled drug labs located in two private houses in the Lviv region. On March 5, police carried out the first stage of operations and detained two suspects during the delivery of a dose to the place of deprivation of liberty. On March 12, operatives from the Strategic Investigations Department in the Lviv region, together with investigators from the Investigative Department of the National Police in the Lviv region, dismantled the operation of the labs and arrested a group member responsible for their operation. As a result of the second stage of operations, police seized cannabis worth 10 million hryvnias.
All members of the drug group uncovered by law enforcement officers are in custody.
