Construction of a modern bomb shelter for schoolchildren nears completion in Lyubotin

Innovative Underground School Nearing Completion in Lyubotin

In the city of Lyubotin, near Kharkiv, an exciting project is coming to fruition — an underground school designed to ensure the safety and well-being of its students in the event of armed aggression. With 90% of the construction work already completed, the school is on track to be fully operational by May of this year.

According to Oleg Synyhubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the school is equipped to accommodate 400 people and is built to class A-4 standards, providing high resistance to missile strikes. In addition, the underground facility is fully stocked with supplies of water, food, and fuel, allowing individuals to stay for up to a month if necessary.

The total cost of the project, totaling almost 73 million hryvnias, has been funded through resources allocated from the fund for the liquidation of armed aggression consequences and the regional budget. The finishing touches, including ventilation, heating, and electricity systems, are currently being implemented, with additional features such as a lift for individuals with limited mobility being installed.

«The state, the leadership of the Kharkiv region, teachers, and school staff are committed to providing a safe learning environment for children as they prepare to return to face-to-face classes,» stated Svitlana Volchkova, the director of the educational institution. The innovative underground school in Lyubotin represents a significant step towards ensuring the security and well-being of its students in challenging times.
