Lviv resident sentenced for offering a bribe to police to close son’s case

Man Sentenced for Offering Bribe to Police in Lviv

A resident of Lviv has been sentenced by a Lviv court for attempting to bribe the police in order to close a criminal case against his son, who was accused of drug possession. The man was fined and ordered to pay a confiscation of $2000, which he had offered as a bribe for assistance in closing the case.

The verdict, which was published on July 8th, revealed that Igor P. had approached the head of the police detective department twice with a bribe offer to help resolve the case against his son. During a recorded meeting, Igor P. handed over $2000 as a bribe, leading to his arrest by law enforcement.

In considering the case, the court took into account mitigating circumstances such as the fact that this was the accused’s first offense. As a result, the man was fined and ordered to forfeit the bribe. The verdict is subject to appeal through the appellate process.
