Deputy of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Nariman Dzhelal Calls on Writing Letters to Political Prisoners
Deputy of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Nariman Dzhelal, who was released from Russian captivity on June 28 as part of the exchange between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, urged citizens to write letters to political prisoners.
He revealed this on Hromadske Radio.
«I brought with me all the letters I received while in captivity. This is an extraordinary support and a great value, especially when you are in such a situation. Many of my friends say that there are no words to express their feelings about people who are in Russian prisons. Write letters about news, scientific discoveries, even about your dog. It brings them great pleasure. And when everyone receives letters, but you don’t, it is very depressing. I saw it with my own eyes,» Nariman Dzhelal noted.
He also shared a story about one of his cellmates who received letters where an entire book was transcribed.
«He received dozens of letters where a whole book was transcribed by hand. And he collected these letters to read,» Dzhelal added.
