The Cabinet of Ministers adopts climate change strategy and action plan

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted the climate change strategy until 2035 and the action plan for 2024-2026, as well as the draft law «On the basic principles of state climate policy in Ukraine». This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

«This is Ukraine’s implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission and one of the financial instruments of the Plan Ukraine Facility,» said Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets.

According to him, the strategy will be the main guideline for the implementation of climate policy in Ukraine and will clearly define the goal, tasks, and main measures, while the climate law should become the foundation for further development.

«All these tools will create a link between government bodies and ensure the architecture for climate-friendly recovery. We will have new opportunities for development and new paths for innovation, investments, and markets. The transition to climate neutrality is an irreversible process that involves all spheres of life,» emphasized Strilets.

He also announced that during the development of these documents, experts from the ministry closely cooperated with the relevant Directorate of the European Commission.
