Google Expands Control: Introducing School Time Feature for Wear OS Watches

Google Introduces New School Time Feature for Wear OS Smartwatches

Google has introduced a new School Time feature for Wear OS smartwatches, as part of an update to Google Play services. This feature is designed to help parents have more control over their children’s use of smartwatches.

What Does the School Time Feature Do?

The School Time feature allows parents to set restrictions on the apps that their children can use during school hours. Additionally, it mutes sounds on the smartwatches during this time, helping children stay focused.

Similar to Apple Watch’s Schooltime Feature

This new option is similar to the Schooltime feature on Apple Watch devices, where parents can control app access and set breaks for lunch and emergency calls.

Availability of the Feature

The School Time feature is included in the Google Play services update to version 24.18, released on May 8. It is still unclear if all Wear OS smartwatches will support this feature, or if it will be limited to newer devices.
