International Drug Trafficking Group Uncovered in Ukraine
Law enforcement officials have discovered an international drug trafficking group operating among European Union countries, with members caught physically in Ukraine.
Group Leaders in Zaporizhzhia
According to RBC-Ukraine, citing the Security Service of Ukraine, the group’s leaders are three residents of Zaporizhzhia who initially fled to the EU at the start of the Russian invasion. They later organized drug trafficking operations and recruited accomplices for their illegal activities.
Drug Shipments to EU
The criminals arranged shipments of synthetic drug methadone in wholesale quantities from «suppliers» in various regions of Ukraine to the European Union. The group used their own network of drug couriers to transport the drugs, concealing them in clothing or luggage before passing them on to foreign accomplices for distribution in EU countries.
Expected Monthly Profit
The organizers of the drug business anticipated a monthly profit of 10-12 million hryvnias in the national currency equivalent. The investigation continues as authorities work to dismantle the drug trafficking operation.
