Lviv groundhogs Misha and Marusya
Lviv groundhogs Misha and Marusya, who lived in the regional ecological and naturalistic center, will not make a spring forecast — the animals died at the end of last year. This was reported to UNIAN correspondent by the director of the center, Igor Antakhovych.
No Spring Forecast for Lviv
Usually Lviv groundhogs were awakened on the feast of the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple, which this year in Ukraine is celebrated for the first time according to the new church calendar on February 2nd.
«This year no one will have to wake them up, our groundhogs have died,» Antakhovych said. «As usual, they went into hibernation at the end of October. But we noticed that they didn’t move for a long time. When we opened the house in November, we saw that the female was dead. The male was alive, sleeping. However, he was also gone in December.»
Mysterious Deaths
Antakhovych notes that autopsies were not performed, as when they were discovered, they were almost decomposed. However, there are two versions of the animals’ death.
